“The Parents Education League of LA has made terrific progress during its first five years,” states Desiree Lapin, President. “However, in order to bring a more robust and fuller range of Programming in the years to come, we will need support from the community at large. Families, schools and organizations all benefit from the resources we provide. With both the collaborative and financial generosity from these groups, PEL can achieve an even more substantial impact on the educational lives of LA children.”

A Letter from the Executive Director, Amy Walia-Fazio:

Dear PEL members and friends:

We are ever grateful for your support and encouragement as PEL heads into our 7th year and we are excited to launch PEL’s second Annual Fund campaign. It is through the generosity of volunteers, members, parents, schools, affiliates, and supporters that PEL can exist.

Our Board and Staff believe firmly in PEL’s mission to provide local families with unbiased and timely information on educational choices. We work to offer opportunities for families to discover the most fitting schools and learning environments for their children.

We are at an exciting phase and hope you will be a part of it. PEL fulfills its mission because of the generosity of volunteers, members and supporters like you. We respectfully ask you to support our Annual Fund appeal with a donation. PLEASE CLICK HERE as every contribution makes a difference! By doing so, you will support LA’s “go-to” non-profit resource regarding schools and education for all families.

We have made tremendous strides over the last 6 years in our mission to serve Los Angeles parents and families and happily share a few of our programming highlights:

  • Speaker Series: notable author Ashley Merryman, co-author of “Top Dog: The Science of Winning and Losing”
  • Preschool Series: an expansion of our Preschool programming to include a more geographically comprehensive Preschool Fair, multiple Preschool 101 Workshops, and multiple Preschool Admissions Director Panels.
  • Kindergarten Series: launched with a Charter Schools 101 Presentation in partnership with CalCharters (California Charters School Association);  a Kindergarten Admissions panel in partnership with ESAD (Elementary School Admissions Directors ); and our first Kindergarten Choices workshop
  • Fairs:  First annual Education and Enrichment Fair (with a focus on the gifted and learning differences population; Multilingual Education Fair; Summer Camp Fair (in partnership with Tips on Trips and Camps LA)

PEL is on the cusp of its next chapter. As we look forward, PEL will implement its new 5-year strategic plan to expand its programming and geographical reach, as well as build its parent, school and affiliate relationships.

Thank you for your consideration!
